Korvalan Kestikievari Restaurant
About
Visiting our restaurant and café is like taking a step back in time. We offer a unique opportunity to experience local specialities, showcasing traditional meals and freshly baked sweets and savoury snacks. They are served in either one of our two dining rooms, each furnished in the style that is typical of Lapland’s log houses from the 1800s. The word “kestikievari” comes from the Swedish word “gästgiveri” which means “guest-giver”. Korvala has always been a place that has given guests food and shelter, so, for the intrepid travellers of the north, it is equivalent to a roadside inn. Established in 1889, it has functioned as a kestikievari for over one hundred years, making it the oldest tourism business in the Rovaniemi region.
