Trail Riding in Breathtaking Arctic Hillscapes 3h

On the excursion, riding experience and the skill to ride in all three gaits are required.

Come and experience an incredible forest trip with us in the Lappish nature, with horses! We pick up our guests from the center of Rovaniemi at the agreed time and our shared experience begins with a car ride to Kotatuli. Our home farm is located in the middle of the forest, in its own privacy and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The nearest neighbor is about 11 kilometers away and the center of Rovaniemi is about 57 km away.

As we get closer, the roads become smaller and we dive deeper into the middle of nature. We travel the rest of the way along a narrow forest road and arrive there after about an hour’s drive.

We start the visit by getting to know each other and the horses in their own herd. Our horses live together in a yard and are used to different people and situations. They usually come to greet our guests already at the gate. After that, you can groom and equip your own horse for riding. Our guide helps and instructs in everything necessary and guarantees safety on our trip. After the equipment, we set off peacefully in line, and our journey towards breathtaking landscapes has begun!

Our journey takes us along forest trails, and during that time we may see signs of forest animals, such as tracks in the snow or sand. If we’re lucky, we might catch a glimpse of, for example, a reindeer herde. Many different animals live in Finnish forests, such as reindeer, hares, foxes and moose. The forest is their home, and we Finns respect the forest and its animals.

Our forest tour continues in versatile and partly challenging terrain. When we reach the top of the hill, we take a short break and can admire the breathtaking scenery. At the same time, we give our horses a little break after a steep climb. At this point, we are halfway through our riding adventure. From there, our journey continues back towards our homestead.

When we arrive back at the farm, we strip the horses and thank them for a wonderful trip. After that, we head to the hut, where a warm and atmospheric reception awaits us. The hut’s benches are lined with reindeer antlers, and in the middle of the fire pit there is a wonderfully warming campfire. We get to enjoy grilled sausage, pastries and drink a cup of hot coffee or tea. Together we enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the hut and listen to the guide’s stories about the Finnish nature and Finns’ connection with brave and loyal Finnish horses.

At the end of the day, we will take you safely to the departure point in the center of Rovaniemi.
